... being and making disciples, by the power of the Gospel, to the glory of God

Good News

We talk a lot about THE GOSPEL here at Wanamaker Road.

“Gospel” basically means “good news.”

The gospel is the core message of the whole Bible.

And the Good News is Jesus:  who He is and what He has done.

He is the only begotten Son of God.

He is the only mediator between God and man.
He became a man, yet did not sin.
He perfectly fulfilled God's Law.
He suffered and died on the cross for the salvation of sinners.
He was buried, and rose again the third day.
He ascended to His Father, where He lives to make intercession for His people.
He is the only Mediator, the Prophet, Priest and King of the Church, and Sovereign of the Universe.

He is the Savior of all who trust in Him alone for eternal life.

The Apostle Paul summed it up like this:  "I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which you are saved, if you hold fast to the word which I preached to you . . . that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures." (1 Corinthians 15:1-4 NKJV)

This is a big deal:

Your eternal destiny hinges on your response to this Good News.

You either submit to Jesus as your Lord and trust in His righteous life, substitutionary death, and victorious resurrection for forgiveness and eternal life, OR

You trust in your own merits, reject Jesus and his work on the behalf of sinner and face eternal death, judgment and condemnation.
